Saturday I got to hang out with my guy, and I had the best time ever! It is so easy to get caught up in the every day business, you forget to take the individual time to hang out with your kid. Ellis and I had his dream date. We left sis with mom, and Brian stayed home because he had work to do.
Ellis and I went to the Aquaruim, out to lunch, and then relaxed in the water fountains outside. We got there and he was automatically using his high pitched voice he uses when he is excited, and feeling special. He loves looking at each exhibit, quizing me as best he can, looking for the hidden frogs, fish, and snakes. We started with the ocean aquarium, and spent a good amount of time in the butterfly exhibit. It really seemed that there were more butterflies than normal, flying around. I could tell Ellis thought it was magical, and honestly I enjoyed myself quite a bit too.
Winding through the "ocean" we saw sharks, turtles, and penguins. All of the fish and animals seemed extra active that day. It was like they were happy to see us, but it was probably just because it is warmer weather than the last time we went. There was also lots of hugs, kisses, and hand holding with me and my shugs. The best part was sitting buy him in silence looking at the sharks. We had such a sense of companionship. Just me and my little guy.
Ellis is obsessed with the crabs at the aquarium. Last time he was there he went into the observation area, and was startled by one of them when it moved unexpectedly. He remembered exactly where they were at, and I couldn't even remember if the aquarium had crabs when he was asking to go see them. He was very excited to see them.
We spent hours together. He sat by me at lunch cradled against me, and then we went to the river aquarium.
And played outside for a good while too!
See those sweet hands. They are going to be a man's hands someday. They will hold his wife, and console his children when they cry. They will do wonderful things, change the world, and maybe help guide his elderly mother one day. If we raise him up right that is, and we will.
After our fun mommy son day we headed towards GiGi's house. Ellis played a little too hard in the water, and had to ride home in his undies. He thought it was hilarious, and so did mommy. I had the best day ever with you son. I love you.
