Camp McGowastrip

We took the kids on their first camping trip this past weekend and had a ton of fun. Their behavior and love for camping was more than I imagined it could be. I am glad that Brian and I have the motivation to do these things with our kids. Sometimes they task seems overwhelming, but the kids surprise us with their ability to adapt. I hope my children remember family camping trips with fond memories, and are thankful for the effort Brian and I go through to do things for them. The trip was also good for Momma and Daddy. I love camping, shutting down, no cell phone, no TV, we didn't even have a radio. Just fire, chairs, and conversation. Relaxing to the max! Of course good friends being with you also helps, Brandon and Brianna made the trip that much more fun. The kids looove them too!

We arrived Friday afternoon, set up camp, gave the kids some rules, and cooked dinner. Brandon and Brianna cooked Friday night. The delicious meal included marinated grilled chicken, sauteed mushrooms and onions, and baked potatoes (made in the fire). Yummo!

The camp area had a swing set. Ellis' fav part!

Beautiful day!

Brandon and Brianna totally got their tent up first, Brian and I were too busy bickering like an old married couple.

We did finally get ours up!
The kids loved the air mattress. If I had a $1 for everytime I told them to stop jumping on the air mattress then I would be currently purchasing a new Tahoe, with a full tank of gas.
First camping dinner

The first night it got down into the 40's. I was so worried that the kids wouldn't sleep, or that they would be cold, or that Lainey would suffocate because we were all bundled together. Well they slept, they were more than warm, and Lainey is fine. I still didn't sleep frequently getting up to check if they were covered and breathing. So other than me being a lunatic, the first night went really well. The kids actually slept much later than they normally do sun beating in the tent and all. Go figure.

The second day of camping we mostly just hung out and relaxed. The kids played the adults rested. It was a great day.

Sunday morning we got up early and packed. Brian and Lainey were still asleep but Ellis and I hung out for a little bit. I love that boy. He is such a joker.

We can't wait to go camping again.
